  • Big Thank You.

Just finished making and installing my first pick up. A precision pup. Not only does it actually work, (which would have more than satisfied me for a first attempt) but it sounds f---ing great.

Anyway, I wanted to shout out a big thanks to the people that helped on this forum, with my inane newbie questions: big_teee, David Schwab, copperheadroads, David King, Stratz, Ward, Sonny W and several others. Couldn't have done it without you.

And thanks to the forum, will be donating.

    Good job!
What type of magnet wire did you use? Plain Enamel?, Poly?

Dual coat polyester. 42 AWG. I never understood what "poly" meant with magnet wire. Is it polyvinyl formal (Formvar), polyurethane, polyamide, polyester, polyester-polyimide, polyamide-polyimide (or amide-imide), or polyimide. (Thanks wikipedia)

They come in red. Probably looks amateurish, but first attempt, etc.

        Cool looking pickup.

As far as magnet wire insulation:

MWS Wire Industries - Insulation Specification Cross Reference Table

If it doesn't say formvar, or plain enamel, it's one of those listed. Usually some kind of poly-something-or-another-nylon.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Looks fine to me, esp as it's your first one. Well done.
