  • Influence of magnet rods height

I am currently building some single coils (strat) using different bobin heights and different magnet rods height.
Supposing to have two "almost" identical pickups with the same number of winding, same TPL, same bobin height, etc... but with different magnet rods meaning a PU has taller magnt rods (i.e. 1mm), do i have to expect any significant difference in terms of tone, output, attack etc...?

Taller magnets might be slightly stronger. Stronger magnets generally sound brighter with a stronger attack.

Bobbin height will probably have a larger affect on the tone. To exaggerate it a bit, take a Strat pickup and a Jazzmaster pickup. They are very similar, except the Jazzmaster is wide and squat. It has a rounder tone, while the Strat is brighter and sharper sounding.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

You can also offset the taller magnets by putting the excess out the bottom.
I do it all the time.
