  • A "real" humbucker that fits in a P-90 soapbar cavity?

I'm wondering if any of the pickup makers here make a "real" humbucker that fits in a P-90 soapbar cavity. I want to replace a stacked P-90 neck pickup in one of my guitars. In the past I have gone the LP Custom route using a Gibson style mini-humbucker mounted in a modified soapbar cover but would rather not have to do that again.

    Thanks!

The Fralin humfree P-90 is not a "real' humbucker ,Its similar to a sidewinder
I'm not sure if anyone here makes them but the Creamery has this one

          Soap Bar | DiMarzio

They have 5 different humbuckers in a P-90 shell.

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

It is a sidewinder. I was playing in a band with a guy that had a PRS with three P-90s, and he used two Fralins at the neck and middle and a DiMarzio humbucker at the bridge. The Fralins sounded very clean and chimey.

I just finished a project this weekend involving a specific application of these kinds of things; I'll put together a report within the next coupla days and post it under something like "Les Paul Recording Project."

As a guy who builds both formats (sidewinder & conventional side-by-side 'bucker) into this kindof enclosure I would say that this oughta be, in fact, a really great setup.

My compliments to the owner, installer & advisor on this one.

It did sound nice. He used the Super Distortion soapbar, because all his other PRS guitars (he has three of them) have Duncan JBs at the bridge.

He seems to have sold the guitar with the soapbars and got a PRS singlecut. I don't play in a band with him anymore, but I was looking at the pictures on his FaceBook page.
