Black plastic may sound different from white depending on the pigment...
Some black pigments are iron oxide. Some are lamp black. And in fine arts, the deepest black is burnt elephant ivory.
And I almost hate to say it, but you can check me on the above statements. They're facts... Hah!
How do I know? Well, I once got some black pigment additive for urethane casting compounds from TAP Plastics, and you should have seen that iron oxide migrate in a pickup cast! Then to the lamp black. No problem. But then some research into Renaissance era artist colors (check Kremer Pigments...) yielded the black from ivory.
So...
