Great playing from Fred, and a great sounding and looking guitar...
Always loved that color combo!
Was wondering about the 5/2 pickup...
I figured the way to go was the A-5 on the treble due to more power and a bassier response and the A2 having a more trebly response with less power would tend to create a more balanced pickup.
Am I out in left field here?
Thank you,

Some builders use AL5 for more definition on the bass strings, and AL2 for a softer attack and fatter highs in the treble strings. Either way, you're going to come up against output balance and phase issues (field warping) when mixing magnets. The trend is to use AL5 in the bridge, and long poled (to increase field throw) AL2, or 3 in the neck and middle to balance output per position, and cut down on string pull. Maybe, try taller coils and/or thinner wire in the neck and middle for increased midrange clarity.

Great sounding guitar. I'm a sucker for that orange finish. I did my Tele in trans orange. Fred can play that thing! It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
