If the vendor won't communicate, then don't buy from them.
There are plenty of good vendors who DO communicate. And they have lots of good wire.
Bad communication= bad vendor to deal with. You DO have a choice.

      Hi Soundguruman

      Not quite

I have also bought wire from Brocott and it was fine, I did send an email asking if the wire was single or double insulated and got a semi reply that there was a holiday and they would get back to me. In between the wire turned up and it was fine. However I did'nt get any further reply. I think that a few more emails would get someone there to move a bit. Getting wire in Europe at a reasonable price is not so easy 42 gauge formvar is impossible to find and firms like Elektrisola just ignore people who don't want to buy a ton of wire (At least the Swiss branch pretty much ignored my enquiries and just send me regular emails telling me that they will be on holiday !! But thats the Swiss I suppose !!) A company that I have had no problem buying from was wires.co.uk They answer telephone calls and have good prices on larger rolls 6kg. I did speak to a chap there about 42 formvar and he explained he could get it but he would have to get a fair amount of it in stock. Maybe if enough people ask him for it he might stock it? Otherwise us Brits must buy from the states, which means high postage rates and 20 % tax + duty on top. So you can count yourself lucky being in sunny California and having a choice of sellers for pickup wire.

      Cheers

        hi andrew,
you are right, but I can't cooperate with people who don't answer simple questions. maybe I'll send another mail.
and yes wires.co.uk is o.k. but I haven't seen 43 or 44 in their webshop, maybe they have anyway.

          soundguruman,
we only have a few vendors here, not so much choice, so we have to be less consistent when dealing with them.

                hello andrew,
thanks, I always looked at their guitarpickup wires. good to know. quite the same price as my german supplier:
Kupferlackdraht - Sauter-Transformatoren brocott has lower prices and the wire is o.k.
                gruß, chr.

                  thanks soundguruman,
still, there aren't manywho are willing to sell small batches. and I don't need 12 kg 0,05 wire at once,
                  lucky one, who does!
                  chr.

I also don't need 6 kg wire in one go but the roll did'nt cost too much and will last me a while, and allow me to experiment as well. The price if I remember correctly was about half of what sauter is selling per kg although you have to work in post. For smaller quantities sauter and brocotts are and wires are not to different

                    Cheers
