    interesting observations - Thanks.
I imagined you would not change the leesona, I have seen the service manual for it -"My dad is a certified mechanic and I maintained a '64 Studebaker Daytona for years and it still took all day to change the traverse gears on the Leesona 102."
    WOW!

it would be interesting to have a look at the meteor system but i have never seen a service manual for one or took one apart to look inside.

The manual sucks but I have the machine also. Below are photos of the dial knob that adjusts turn per layer for different wire gauges. Also there is a photo of the friction disk that transfers power to the traverse. This is the part that easily wears a flat in it if the knob is turned when the machine is not running. Also the clutch plate faces are aluminum and do get grooves worn in them. I have had this machine for years but just got around to having fixtures made so it should will be running soon. I suspect the wire gauge dial is not real accurate when you get up to 42 awg setting. One, two or three off in calibration leaning towards larger wire sizes would account for variation in turn per layer also.
