I have wound about 100 pickups TOTALLY by hand, no winder, all I have is a little wooden frame with a bolt sticking out of it that has a few small bearings, and a big washer on the end, thats where I mount my spool of wire. I stick a "post it" on the base and start winding, bobbin in one hand, wire threaded on with the other hand, and I count and count and count... every 100 winds, I pick up a pen and put a hash mark on the post it. Sometimes I can get a rythm and crank out 1000 turns an hour!

That's real good and everything, and All Due Respect!
      But, Why???
I do a fairly primitive wind with a cordless drill, and it is painful enough!

Yeah man, that's like, 8-9 hours of winding for a single pickup..... OUCH.

Yeah it takes a while, just never got around to putting together any type of winder is all.

I hear you, and feel your pain.
I always want to make pickups, and don't want to work on a Freaking Winder.
PM Me, or Open a Thread on the Beginners Corner, I hang there some, and we will all kick it around!
Hopefully get you a simple alternative.

That's where a little "OCD" comes in handy!

I'd like to think that he'd learned a thing or two in the meantime...
