Hi everybody. I own my 1968 LP GT w. P90 since 1979. Within the last 25+ years I was generously borrowing it to local session and band musicians. Only a few days ago I took off the plastic caps to take a look at the P90. I was surprised to see that the bobbins were different from what I had in memory. The picture on top of my head was P90ies w. clear plastic bobbins. I can't really remember if I had seen those clear plastic bobbins on one of my other P90 guitars, like that early SG Special for instance. That was the one w. 2 P90 and a Maestro. I think it was from 1965 but it could also be from later than 1068, can't really remember. It's many moons ago since I checked my LP's PUs, so I remain insecure if my memory serves me right.
Any thoughts? Did they use black bobbins in 1968 ? That's what they are. They're also twisted at the edges.....Hmmm
