  • On the lookout for EMG-40 sized covers

I apologize for making a thread like this, but you gentlemen seem to be a good starting point for such info.

Do you know of any place in Europe that sells and ships EMG-40 sized covers? A friend of mine and I have completed our prototype Wal-oid pickup and we're just about ready to install it - but his new bass came with epoxied pickups, and I don't have any EMG pickups in any of my instruments or in my parts bin. Does someone have two spares they'd be willing to part with for a fair price as well as paid shipping and handling?

Bassculture has them. Christoph is very nice and buying from his has always been a pleasure.

      They will probably ship internationally.

They do indeed ship internationally, however the shipping might be a bit high for a small order. Otherwise they are a great firm to deal with.

        Cheers

Bassculture has very, very reasonable prices and shipping for someone like me who needs only a few covers, not tens or hundreds of them. They have a lot of other covers too.

Mojotone is sadly out of the question as I can't afford to pay $50 shipping on $4 worth of items.

Marko, thanks for the info, I've mailed Cristoph.

Some overseas shipping charges are ridiculous. Ed Roman wanted $220 for shipping a Steinberger bass bridge to Finland. I got the same bridge from Hohner 160€ shipped.

The EMG covers have already arrived to Croatia today, and it hasn't even been a week. Christoph really doesn't waste time.

                Meanwhile... a sneak peek.

AWG42, N32-grade NIB magnetic rods, series connection between poles of each string, then parallel between strings. Clocks in a nice 300 Ω and is mated to an SVF with a resonance switch. The pickups measured a very, very high resonance peak - if the measurements are correct, around 80 kHz. Flat indeed...

Clips soon... or might just make a thread for it.

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
