I got the Seymour Duncan DVD and saw a guy beveling magnets on a grinder. He was holding something that looked like a Foredom handpiece with a quick connect chuck so he could pop magnets in and out real quick. Maybe it was a driver. Anyway I am looking for something like that either a Foredom handpiece or a driver tool or ????? Any ideas? It needs to hold 3/16" alnico rods and 5mm also. Right now I am using a big driver that looks like an electric drill, its too big and clunky but has a twist chuck that holds both sizes, need something much smaller......

See if you can find something like this in the states Possum. we call them pin chucks over here in the UK. Engineers suppliers do them down to very small sizes using a collet system and you can stick it in the end of a interchangeable screwdriver.

Thanks man, its just a matter of knowing what the name of something is, keyless chuck, never would have thought of that, found one on ebay that should work in my cordless driver and fit both sizes fine, its on its way......http://www.SDpickups.com

Hi Possom, I know I sent you a link to that chuck plus so did your other poster but something for you to try. Had a few mins to spare today so drilled a 5mm hole in both ends of a piece of mild steel bar. Good bit is it doesn't have to be round , square will do. The depth was a magnet and a half into which I dropped a mag at each end 1 north out and 1 south with a drop of super glue on each.I put a mag in each end and held them against a fine grindstone. It worked for me on a similar principal to a centreless grinder ie: the magnet spun in the opposite direction to the wheel but remained in place due to the magnetic pull of the installed mags. Pop in pop out and "no powered handpiece" job done.
