  • Which Humbucker bobbin?

    Hi guys,
alfter a lot of leeching, this is my first post! this forum is the only source for pickup making that i know, i like a lot all your discussions and you seems all nice on sharing infos. D

After a while making only Single coils, i'm now approaching to Humbuckers and didn't know which tipe of bobbin should i order. I found Mojo, Montreux, Stewmac and Allparts as suppliers, but Allparts excluded (it doesn' t ship to europe sadly :\) they seems all different to me.

    Which one do you use?

I also have read that Mojo ones has screw holes a bit larger than screws and they look a little worse, but that statement was from an old post so i don't know if this is still true.

Thanks for the help in advance!

PS: John Suhr seems to use Mojo ones or am i wrong? watch this http://www.suhr.com/core/media/media...2b3ce24d2e2cc5

You might check with the allparts.uk website. It seems like they are often out of stock but I think they do ship into Europe.

      Thanks David!

I didn't know that site, they have parts there Pickup parts | Allparts UK

Btw right now i'm oriented on Mojotone, they have a lot of nice things to order, but my worries are still on the "look" of the bobbin with pole screws, seems that the screw heads are 1-2 mm smaller than the holes.
I read a lot of thread about bobbins and their size but they seems to be outdated, thats why i created this thread.

Dunno if Mojo got the same products as mentioned in threads right now or if they changed something

Which one do I use, I use some of all of them?
Unless you're needing vintage PAF type bobbins, they all work fine.
I am currently buying Mojo bobbins, I order them with other parts.
You can get kits from mojo, and stewmac.
The kits are the best way to get started.
All a bobbin is, a plastic form to hold the wire.
A kit will have matched parts, and will get you going.
