Where to buy thicker Tele base plates?

The plates that Mojo sells are very thin compared to the plates on my Klein Epic Broadcaster set. Where can I buy thicker plates?

Don't know who makes thicker ones.
They would be easy to make?
You could cut, and tap whatever thickness you like.
I like the baseplate bare just fine.
You can clear Lacquer them to keep them from rusting.
I also like them without steel baseplates, but you need the forbon you can thread.

Thanks! What does it take to cut 1/16" copper plated steel? Would any nibblers work or scissors with added mechanical advantage? Sadley I do not own a die and punch press.

You could also try adding more metal to the bottom of your thin base plate.

Cutting 1/16" steel is probably going to need a hacksaw or coping saw with a 32tpi blade. Good sharp tinsnips might be OK but they will deform the smaller piece so use them for trimming. It's possible a nibbler would have a fine time but mine broke so I'm not a good person to ask.

I use a dewalt cordless Sabre or Jigsaw.
Works great on sheet metal that thickness.

I get mine laser cut ... buy around 200 at a time so it works out cheap. Most laser cutting specialists will do a small run job for you though.

Question: Do a lot of guys Lacquer coat bare steel baseplates vs using copper or zinc plated ones?

I just put masking tape over the magnets, but I guess lacquer would work. I can't use lacquer from November to April so the tape is better for me.

Just for fun I might add a second baseplate to the Tele bridge I made to listen for changes. I can see having a guitar built to change pickups quickly would be a big help!

I should have been a little more clear in my question. My concern is insulating/protecting the steel from rust and deterioration over time.

I just know that Leo used the copper plated steel for something but it might have been the bridge plate. Knowing him he used the pickup punch out from the bridge to put under the pickup thus saving $.001. Cha-ching!
