  • Where to get coil wire in Europe?

    Hello,

    I' m new here...
And interesting in trying to make me some guitarpickups...
Can anybody tell me where I can find coil wire and parts in Europe?
I know I can get stuff from Stewmac, and other parts suppliers.
But the transport cost (and taxes) could get high.
Especially the coil wire, as it gets heavy quick...

    Thanks,
    Mantis

I think the worst part, here in europe, is where to get magnets and stuff like covers, humbucker plates...
They won't listen to you if you aren't a dealer.

for the most part we are at the mercy of www.allparts.uk.com

I've got a buttload of 5mmx18mm magnets because the people I order from give great deals if you order more than 20,000 of them. So I can help you guys there, but otherwise, learn to put up with allpart.

For flatwork it doesn't hert to check with your local toolmakers and lazer cutters. If you have a sheet of volcanized fiber laser cut into bobbins it's not as expensive as you might think, but it's only worth it if you want to buy a couple hundred at once.

I tried to order PE from them 3 months ago and they told me they can't get it. Who did you talk to? Was it Ray or Tac?

              I just ordered this:
              0.063MM ENAMELLED COPPER WIRE
              Ref: EC0063

I was under the impression that it is PE, it is not polysol and i don't think it's formvar. Also somebody on this site pointed to them for PE.

Go down to catalogue 06/GP17 or so.

When I placed an order it came with a free pen and a load of sweets

I've been using 0.063 mm solderable (155 Deg) from wires.co.uk so far

In 500g bobins, the wire comes OK out of the bobin and I have had no problem with the wire up to now.

I think they have reasonable price BTW, at least for small amount sourcing, which is not always easy to get.

And yes, the US are certainly a better place to get parts, but if you are an individual (i.e. can't refund the VAT), for small order: VAT+customs and process taxes+shipping can be much compared to the actual order.
