Hey All ,it's been a while so here goes ...
I wanted to built a pickup like the floating Benedetto type of pickups (may make the cover out of hardwood ) for my cousin's jazz guitar
I was going to keep it small & thin so I was going to use firebird/ Mini-humbucer bobbins & use bar magnets as poles like the firebird .
I'm not into Jazz music so I'm not sure about the tone but for playing chords & Jazz style ,wouldn't it be better to wind it with faster scatter wind or a even 60 tpl to get that fatter tone more pleasing strumming tone ,opposed to winding the bobbin with a perfect layering with 42 gauge wire that would be over 100 tpl on the Firebird bobbin
I would try them both but I don't think I have enough wire to experiment with this my spool is almost gone ..I'm at a fork in the road !..............................
& I vwonder if the Benedetto pickups have a steel plate in under the magnets like a Firebird has ?
