Hi everybody! I'm new to this forum and reason I joined is that I would like to get more information about DeArmond Guitar Mike pickup. I bought one really cheap from eBay and it worked fine some time. Since I repair electronics professionally I was interested to know what dc-resistance value the coil had but I couldn't measure the resistance value. I thought that maybe there was a hidden capacitor inside the bobbin but I can't verify it.
Some time ago I accidently dropped the pickup to concrete floor and after that it has been almost dead so my first question would be that is it possible to the pickup could work even though the coil wire was open trough the stray capacitance? Is it possible that the magnets lost their power because of the shock from the floor?
It would be nice to start a thread about this particular pickup and share information about it. I start this by posting pictures of this pickup. It's made in 1953 according to the date stamped inside the pickup. The bobbin seems to be made out of cardboard.
