Thanks for the compliments! The scales are 34"-37"

      37?!? Ouch!

Its funny, upright bass doesn't bother me, but 35" and up seem uncomfortable.

Must be the position the bass is in.

      Bet that sounds huge though!

      I'm going to make a 41.75" EUB.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

        A few years ago I made, as a personal experiment, a 36" fretless 6-string, 18mm bridge spacing.
        Huge.
The bass is a joy to play when you sit, but a pain when you stand up: the hand is uncomfortable when playing near the nut, and the arm (I have fairly short arms, 'cause I'm not so tall...) is too outstretched.
The bass voice is really nice, with a strong definition over the low B, anyway. But that's not for me. You have to enjoy your gig, not to suffer.

..I make EUB, they're so fun.
By the way, In the next Stěco (this, here, http://www.biarnel.com/liuteria/sticomk2/sticomkii.html) I will add a magnetic pickup to the regular piezo one.
I'm thinking to a split coil, really low impedance, activated on board by the same electronics handling the piezo.
        ..suggestions welcome.

This bass got a good testing by a couple of players other than the owner just last night. The concensus is that the 37" scale is no big problem when combined with the mutiscale concept.

That makes sense... after all how often do you play the last few bottom notes?
