  • Interesting upright electric bass pickup

I was fixing an upright bass with interesting magnetic pickups (piezo pickup is also installed). Does anyone know details of such pickups? They have very low impedance (<200 Ohms). The sound is OK but I prefer the piezo pickup sound.

nice wood! It looks a little like a Specimen "bootheel" pickup, but I don't think they are low imp.

Looks like one coil per string. Appears to be a ceramic magnet in a copper tube?
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Yes, this is one coil per string. Each coil can be moved up or down independently. I'm not sure about the magnet - I already returned the bass to the owner.

They look like they are wrapped in cork to isolate them from the body -maybe to reduce handling noise.

Yes, that's correct. The cork makes it possible to move pickups up, or down without any additional mechanism.
