  • Need to ID an old Bartolini humbucking pickup

    Hello,
I am new to the forum, but have looked around a little bit. I was hoping I could get a little help identifying an old Bartolini humbucker pickup I've had since the mid-80's. There is nothing stamped on the bottom, and it has 8 leads on the bottom. I had purchased it used and had a guitar tech install it along with a Bartolini 1C in a SG I had at the time. I didn't like the SG so I put the pickups it came with back in and have had the Bartolini's in storage since. I want to get a project guitar and start learning to do my own electronics and use them but since I have no idea what the 8 lead pickup is I am not sure what the best application for it would be. I have a Bartolini brochure from some time in the '80s but I don't think mine is in there. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Presumably a quad coil of some sort. Here's a switch wiring diagram for their bass version:

I have one in a guitar. It has the 8 terminals on the bottom. I am not sure exactly what the switch is doing, I never inspected it. But if you need a basic wiring schematic, I can show what that one does. Otherwise, you can get an ohmmeter out and start figuring out what they are doing.

I have no idea, but I thought it'd be fun to mention - we're in Livermore, California, same as Bartolini. Sometimes I run into them in-town! Livermore is a relatively small city so it's really random we happen to be in the same place. If I come across them and have my phone at the time to access this post, I'll ask for you.

It sounds like a quad coil wired for multiple tapping, one half of the south one half of the north together to be more inline with the string nodes
