  • Magnet dimensions?

I measured a dimarzio pickup magnet the other day and it's huge in comparison to other companies. About 6mm thick. How much of an effect does this really have and does anyone have a list of common sizes?

IIRC my super distortion mag was double size (that would make it around 0.25 inch = 6.3mm)

0.125 inches (3,17mm) is fairly standard for bar magnets, Mojotone have some 0.2 's

Ceramic mags have a stronger/denser field not sure if doubling the thickness makes it even more so ... If so I'd expect even more (?) treble response. Perhaps Google Seymour Duncan's SH-6, have a double size Ceramic mag as a selling point. Find out what people are saying about them

Filtertrons have 0.25" thick magnets. Try swapping that for a "normal" magnet and see what happens with output/size. Thick magnets are a must when replicating that sound
