  • Going to mod my winders...

Yep, I think I'm going to mod my winders. At least one of them...

Turn the tailstock around so they both rotate the same direction. Extend the wire guide to reach, and turn it into a two-station winder.

I picked these up earlier this year, too.

Bought this one from Romania. It has a couple small issues that are being worked on. The traverse "creeps" when the unit is stopped...

Getting there. It's working even with this rough, temporary setup. Need to get a couple toothed timing pulleys for the spindle shafts.

Good start, timing belts are "the way to go" as far as cross-shaft operation, that tail stock NEEDS to be in sync with the headstock to go anywhere with the design/mod/update.

Working well! A little louder than I had hoped...1-to-1 turn ration is good, unless the belt slips. I'm gettign a little wobble from my winding face now, got to re-balance it. Turn it in the spindle till it spins smoothly. It was perfect, before... zeeerooo wobble at all.

Romanian one looks like the old REA winder in some ways, which is still being made by some company I can't remember the name of.

Same model as the one in the video, just without tailstock.
