does any one know much about fender bass VI pickups?

I have a squire bass VI here for a rewind of all 3 pickups

the pickups look like jaguar pickups; are they essentially identical pickups?

    thanks in advance

According to Forrest White's book about his time at Fender, the Bass VI pickup is the same as a Jaguar pickup - #42 wire, wound to 6200 - 7000 ohms.

Yes. They are Jaguar neck pickups in the neck and bridge positions, Jaguar bridge in the middle. Remember, back in those days the ohms didn't make them neck or bridge positions, the polarity is what defined them.

Sorry if I'm off topic, but I played a Bass VI at the local music shop, and couldn't quite get my head around it. It was stupid fun to play, but it's kind of weirdly in between the guitar and bass in the same way as extreme drop tunings, in my opinion; the guitar and bass sort of walk all over each other because they are playing in the same register.

How do you use this instrument in a band?

                    A few other users:

Glenn Cambell used on one Wichita Lineman:

Once you start listening for it, the baritone guitar sounds pops up in a lot of places. It really had a strong hold in the Nashville sound for a long time. But even in other genres to this day it pops up. Though now it seems to be sort of a spice in a song, kind of like sitar/guitars.

I have a Squire Bass VI that I made a new neck pickup for and switched the bridge pickup out for a Duncan Jag 1/4lb.

The neck was around 6.1K and the bridge was hotter...I don't remember exactly but it was definitely not not just deviation from the neck pickup's resistance. Shape wise, they are Jag pickups. The neck pickup is vintage spec Jag or close.
