I'm not much of a traveler, but my wife is. So, for the 3rd time in our 40 years together we are taking an anniversary trip abroad. Well abroad if you live in North America. We are Italy bound for a few weeks. Should be a lot of fun and some great food and wine as a bonus!

So, the shop closes down again for a bit. But really looking forward to getting back to business in October. I have the Epilog 40 watt laser all setup and up and running. Finally had to call it quits waiting for the Glowforge (for those who follow that entertaining bit of crowdfunding). That said, the Epilog is working great in the early going and a number bobbin designs ready to go with only rod magnet "fit" testing of the cut flatwork to call it complete. This should be a fun winter, adding P90's, Jazzmaster's, P-bass, J-bass to the offering. This tool was built to cut forbon!

What places did you visit? If you went to the Museo di Leoanardo, you could have seen an automatic drummer - the first ever made.

There are also beautiful gardens: Giardino Bardini, Giardino di Boboli on the other bank of the river (go also to Palazzo Pitti if you are there).
If you haven't been to Basilica di Santa Maria Novella, go there and take a look at astronomic instruments on the front wall of the church. The were used to adjust Julian calendar to Gregorian calendar in the 15-th century.

In the morning you can go to Gilli at Piazza della Republica for a "caffè e cornetto".

And in the evening you can go there to listen to street musicians.
Have you seen already "slightly modified" street signs? Like this one:

And there is a nice music shop - this could be, as far as I remember, in Via S. Gallo.

And learn italian - it's different when you speak to people in their own language. I did, at least a little bit.
