  • Wide Range Bass Pickup

Anyone has info on the Wide Range bass pickup? I know it has cunife threaded magnets and reads approximately 25k. I'm wondering if they used 43awg or 42awg wire. Some hints on the eight of the bobbins would be useful as well.

I need to build a WRHB-like pickup for a customer. It doesn't have to look like the originals, just have the same sound.

    Thanks for your help

From what I've seen the bass wide range was unlike the guitar version in that it used a large bar magnet and steel screws similar to a traditional humbucker. Two big coils of 42awg wire.

Thanks Rjbanta, but the old wide range bass pickups look like they had cunife threaded magnets.

Maybe the reissues (like the wide range guitar pickups reiussues) are just standard humbuckers in a Wide range casing.

I'm referring to the originals, not the reissues. The screws that resemble what would be the rod magnets on the guitar wrhb are steel screws.
