first time making pickups

yeah, as the title suggests, I'm making some pickups for a bass I'm making, and this is my frst time. I just need to know some stuff, where to get slugs, how to magnetize said slugs, I'm making the bobbins with leftover wood from the body, what I could use to wind the pickups, how many winds should get what impedance etc.

I'm just a noob, but I know everything about the wiring, and I really want to wind these pickups.
