dear pickup makers,
i'm looking to build some low impedance pickups for a weird 20 long, many stringed instrument i made. https://vimeo.com/90383414
There's the machine.
Currently I've been using these cheap humbuckers pickups that I buy on ebay for $6-$10 each. It sounds...OKAY. I plug these into a 16 channel mixer. so I'm looking to upgrade the electronics of my setup to a balanced (XLR) wound pickups (humbuckers I think!). Not really concerned with the physical appearance, style, whatever. I can build stuff, but I don't have any of the pickup making hardware, so I was wondering if there's anyone around who could give me a "pickup making lesson" so to speak. Especially if you've wound low impedance stuff before. If the pickup works, I'll want to make it again 18 times. But I really think I could use the lesson from a master or even a novice—to test out whether or not this is the thing I need in the first place.
best,
daniel
