I somehow got on the email list for Reverb's online magazine. They just sent a copy of an old interview with Ray Butts. Within the article is a link to another interview with Seth Lover. Mostly stuff I had already heard, but still a fun read.
I smiled at some of the off-handed remarks about design details that have fueled long-winded debates among pickup geeks. Ray laughs that H-slot covers theoretically block eddy currents, but admits he never actually compared a slotted cover to a solid cover. Seth complains that Gibson's main design criteria were that pickups be loud and cheap....
