  • Shipping conditions

It being winter where I am (20* F ATM), I just had a thought. How sensitive are various insulations on magnet wire, to the winter temperatures?

Just wondering if I order some PE, if i should do some special shipping to prevent damage to the insulation.

    IMO,

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The insulation on the wire is put there for just that reason....to insulate and protect the wire under high temp as well as cold temp conditions. If you're exposing the wire to really extreme temps that my be another story. But weather conditions i wouldn't worry about.

Someone else may have another take.

      cryo...

I know Callaham cryo treats pickups which is super cold, not sure what wire is used, probably poly being that he loves Fralins (he must be one of those older guys with hearing damage...) I wouldn't worry about it, the wire is built to take temperature extremes.

I figured since people talk about PE possibly getting cracks in it over time, maybe abrupt indoor out door temp changes might be something to watch out for.

As for the older guys with hearing damage, one I notice most is my friend who is one year older than me (31) man he cranks his treble. And he's always been in a band. Little bit on the hard of hearing side too.
