SG Pickguard soapbar P90's -- baseplate?

Got a query for one of these but they are mounted to the pickguard sort of like a humbucker, with the mount screws off the ends through pickguard, not through the middle as with a standard soapbar. This means a soapbar plate with ears I assume -- where can I get such a plate?

And if they're hard to find like a lot of stuff, does anyone have a picture of one so that I can take a shot at fabricating one myself?

While we're at it, what's everybody's thoughts on aluminum as a baseplate material? And is there a source to get sheets of nickel-silver to make baseplates?

How strange. There clearly are screws through the centre of the bobbins as normal and it seems there are screws either side too.

This one was on German e-bay back in October claims to be from a 74 SG special. May help.

This is the way Reverend does it. Flat tapped plate added to the bottom.
Can't get much simpler than that.

I had some of these from a 70's SG. The owner replaced them with humbuckers and gave them to me.

They had the clear bobbins. They were wound to about 9K. I unwound one to 8K (to sound like the P-90's in my ES-330TD) and put it in the neck position of my Sekova LP copy. I remember I cut the two tabs off the baseplate.

I googled and see some 60's SG's had the pickups on the pickguard, and some didn't. Depends on the size of the pickguard.

Pre 1965 SG Standard and Special have small pickguard and pickups either with rings for humbucker, or screwed to body for P-90, then Gibson change to large doublesided (batwing)guard in late 65 where pickup screwed to pickguard, Fender style. For P-90 they still use 2 x 3-48 machine screws through the old mounting holes in pickup with nuts under the pickup just to hold the cover on, then 2 height adjustment screws through tapped holes in the legs. These SGs also have velly large route for 3 of any type pickup.

That's how I thought they were. Can't go out and buy plates like that, so I ordered up a few sheets of nickel-silver to just make the plates myself. Thanks to KevinT for the link...

should be a reasonable material. will polish well and look good. id probably make one from hardwood to suit the guitar (depending on the guitar i guess) as it would be easier as you wouldnt have to do too much work to smooth out the cuts.

Are they the same as used on the PAF humbucker baseplate?

In the photos they look like standard humbucker mount/height screws. Don't know for sure.
