I think they are probably for real, I emailed him and told him it ain't brushed "aluminum" but nickel silver, he said thanks but hasn't changed it....
I've seen real early PAFs from the early lap top steels which is where they were first used, the pole screws on those are cut off the bottom flush...
Yes, some early pickups have aluminum and stainless steel covers, but these are folded under because they can't be easily soldered. Phillips mounting screws very shiney and "original switch" gold plated. Blushed finish on outside of cover stronger than anything I see on early pickup. I let experts decide on these.
