Darn, oh well.... The first rule of getting an old PU in for repair is look at every thing about it, wire type, wire size, TPL, loose coil, tight coil, magnets, dimensions of everything etc... Well now you know so it's not all bad

I think Seth said all those real early pickups were mostly hand wound, if it was that sloppy and loose it was probably hand wound I bet.
