  • Rounded polepieces

I assume with a rounded pole piece the magnetic field would either be weaker as you move away from the center of the pole or the field would follow the shape of the rounded magnet.

Which is correct and how might this affect tone?

      Thanks.

I had seen that thread but there was only one brief mention of rounded poles (Bartolini' and "pluckier" tones). I was hoping there might be more knowledge or experience with rounded vs flat among other forum members.

Also, if you think about it adjustable pole pieces are essentially rounded, but the diameter of the screw head is somewhat larger than the screw shaft; yet another variable! So that brings forth a question of tonal differences in adjustable (narrow bodied / wider head) poles vs slugs.

Interesting most humbuckers have one coil of each type of poles, which makes me wonder if that is a question of balancing / blending the tone of each pole type?
