polepiece question

Gents, Has anyone ever used two slug side bobbins on a humbucker, but drilled and tapped one side for adjustable polepieces in shortened slugs? The intent is to maintain the approximate same mass. I've seen double slug, and double adjustables,but don't have any idea how it affects the sound. Thought I'd run it by you guys before I waste my time.Could this be the route to tonal nirvana?

I'm pretty sure that's the way Seth wanted to do it until the Gibson marketing geeks decided one row should be adjustable. I've seen it done but never done it myself. Can't hurt to try it.
