Cordless right angle Drill as a coil winder?

I was thinking of using a rechargable right angle drill to build a winder. ? It runs from 0-500RPM or 0-1500RPM. I think it would be much easier to build into a working machine that a heavier, less balanced and arguably overpowered / overtorqued power drill.

Something like this:



Would this work?

Thoughts?

I use my old Makita cordless duct taped to my fold out dinner tray. Did 3 pups in one night while watching TV...

The only thing I have to wonder about using a drill is it has a lot of torque. I would worry about breaking wire if you use too much tension.

But then I'm used to my winder which will slow down if you pull on the wire! That can't be good either...

ive done mine on a proper matal lathe without any issues. aslong as you keep the wire feeding freely its fine.

Also just a thought, you can virtually wind a coil on anything but using some cordless drills and such some can be off centered etc which can give a wobble in the coils. You can use anything you wish- Its yours- Your work-design, etc.
