thats why the songs of today lack....
no one is finding their own way...
The big problem is the newer players often don't have roots that go back very far. They are more concerned with sounding like some current band, rather than having any kind of musical background.
There's a real lack of originality. The real fault of all this is the record companies. The talent is out there, you just don't hear it enough.
I do like a lot of new music that's out there... you just don't hear it on the radio.
wow..if i played guitar , I could write a song about it.
What's the old quote? "writing about music is like dancing about architecture"
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
The funny thing is no one is sure who said it first... Zappa, Elvis Costello, Laurie Anderson, Lester Bangs, Steve Martin, Miles Davis... all have that quote attributed to them.
I always thought it was much older.
Here's a great Zappa quote:
"Rock journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk in order to provide articles for people who can't read."
Or as I love to say, "shut up and play your guitar!"
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
