How many Winds?

hey, im wanting to make my own humbucker pickup. i want to know what amount of winds will give me a sharp attack, with good sustain, and plenty of output. ps, i play heavy metal, so there is alot of distortion.

What gauge wire are you using? What magnet type? What type of guitar (wood?)
