Just thought I'd put a plug in for David at Mojotone, they now have tele flatwork and baseplates, dog ear base plates, tele neck flatwork, and bucker baseplates, maybe some other stuff too. Good service good prices......

To get "dealer" prices you have to have a legitimate business, a website storefront, business license or tax number, whatever works to prove you are in this as a business for profit, not a hobbyist. Then David will give you a login account and when you log in you'll see dealer prices then. Whats with their weird HB bobbins?
I ordered a couple sets when I saw this thread, this is what they shipped:
looks like wire might be exposed on the bottom ends with a packed wind, dunno yet, haven't wound 'em.
The Cream color is nice though, pink-free (my bad pic looks kinda pink), the color is closer to a bone color.Comment

I've never had issues with the bobbins, but I find that unless you order a ton of parts from them the shipping out ways the savings on parts.
I seem to get charged $5-15 more for shipping than I do from Pat at GJ and Mojo takes over a week to get to me and Pat gets his orders to me within 3-4 days.

those are WSC bobbins, they are slightly shorter than StewMac/Allparts bobbins, its another useful thing to have around. But the plastic is kinda cheap with the center post not being solid the pole screws can strip it out pretty easily....http://www.SDpickups.com

I had those from Gj and I heard a sound change compared to the Stewmacs.
I wound them on a machine with autotraverse and had no problem but wehn hand winding my Atomic Punk pickup over 9 K the wire sliped a bit.....
I like the look ,verry shiny and no scraches in the mould like the stewmac.

Compared to the other stuff that's available, I prefer these bobbins. Mainly for the way the final product looks. They're not without issues (no "shoulder" in the last hole in the screw bobbin, etc.), but the flat spot isn't really a problem. When you load the bobbins to the max, some turns will tend to sort of roll toward the flat. Never had any complaints about tone, so I don't see it as an issue and it's a small percentage of the pickups I sell that would have that much wire on them. I like to give anything that "occurs" during a wind a chance for potential positive impact anyway.
They're not any "cheaper" than any other readily available bobbins. As I'm sure everyone here has, I've had people A/B my pickups with "real" PAFs and other boutique models and tell me mine are better. I only say that to indicate that from a materials standpoint the bobbins don't appear to have a negative impact on tone. Either way, most folks show off their pickups in the guitar. They don't pull them out and say "these are great, but this flat spot here really bugs me".

Ok, I'm glad everyone seems to find them acceptable after winding.
I wonder why they did that anyway? (cut off the bottom bobbin) seems like kinda weird. Maybe the plasic mold process had some flaw that was easily removed by cutting off the bobbin flange.Comment
