  • what kind of help do you hire?

    male ?

    female?

    age?

    Race?

I know that older Asian & Hispanics dominate most larger pickup makers

and that men usually never end up on the winder itself -

What do you look for in a employee

I tried a few friends and a girl or two -- but so far its been a expensive waste!

U- Got - any helpful tips?

    Thanks
    Pupo

wow thats a tough question. When I did work for EMG most of their employees were hispanic, probably because they didn't pay very good, alot of women too. but I don't think they wound any pickups in house so that doesn't help. Maybe you could try hiring some kid who is already winding pickups and has a little bit of experience and is a musician too. Alot of EMG's male employees were musicians so cared about the products.

What positions are you hiring? Phone receptionist/sales, winder, shipping, bookkeeper? You are going to have a hell of a time finding the right person to work a winder. If you're wanting to train from scratch -you should look for people who have some electronics knowledge, at least enough to understand what they are making and how attention to detail is important. They need to have good eye/hand coordination and be able to patiently and consistently repeat a process of construction. My advice for finding potential worker bees is to look for young people(high school/college?) who have an interest in guitars/electronics, and, VERY IMPORTANTLY, who also have a strong CRAFT background such as doll house making, scale model building, ceramics, making fishing lures, and the like. Pay 'em crap until it becomes apparent that they either are rising to the challenge, or aren't suited, then send them on their way, or raise their pay. If you actually find someone who can effectively TAKE YOUR PLACE, pay them WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD and hope its enough to keep them!

        I got one for you....
"Cindy Lou" works for very low wages and likes to get down under things in general. Very talented with her fingers (and other parts) she loves to solder, and exhibits great manual dexterity and can do very fine cross stitching. She loves music and TELECASTER MASTERS, and loves to put in long nite hours handling alnico rods. Her work history includes many satisfied business owners. Her favorite color is green, her highest wishes are for world peace and loves puppy dogs. She is also a killer bass player and not bad on a drum kit. She can be reached at 555-SLUTZ in Tijuana, Mexico."

              Hummer?

Your employee could benefit from an under-wire tensioning device, I'd recommend lots of felt.

Yes, I do believe she is demonstrating how she uses her knockers as wire tensioners.

Been online searching for the perfect size 10; you know just tall enough to perform oral with a flat head to rest your beer on, but can't seem to so much as get a reply.....
