  • Duncan interview videos at the factory....

Thought it was interesting he states firmly that "humbuckers should NOT be handwound."

Oh cool ... I'm going to watch this now.

I get that Premier Guitar magazine by email every month. They've had some cool stuff so far.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

        ...

you probably heard the "authentic handwound PAF tone" from the same company that brought you "authentic boiling ice cream" :-)

AND both coils should be wound exactly the same....

Evan Skopp is a bit of a dweeb, but you have to respect some of the details that goes into Duncan's pickups that probably aren't even important. Butyrate bobbins? I can't imagine that would make one hoot of a difference in tone.

We did get an answer to an old question here... pad stamping the logos with epoxy based ink. Not hot foil stamping like some people thought.

                    yeah...i remember that thread.

Hey, maybe they should ask DiMarzio if they want to buy some of that dye for cream bobbins.

David, when i said that i was referring to his buisness, but i guess Even Skoop fits that description also.

Did you see the twinkle in seymour's eye's when talking about Abigail, i think he has a thing for her. So sweet. Thats the first time i've heard about him working on jimi's guitar, I think it must be the "white" rosewood neck strat with the transition logo from the description of Jimi's head ware of the time. I didnt know Seymour went so far back,
I bet he's wound pickups for farther time

Ha ha.... As if DiMarzio uses butyrate...

I think they are all PVC.

Some forms of Butyric acid are used for food and perfume additives.

Mmmm I can just taste that PAF now! It's banana.

I hope Seymour doesn't get so authentic as to use that awful clear plastic Gibson used to use for P-90's. Or maybe the shrinking and cracking enhances the tone.

I got a DiMarzio that is on a 80's mick mars Kramer and the slug coil on the neck pickup is cracked down the middle! I dont think it has enhanced the tone one bit

Oh I was thinking well oiled marketing machine! Even was like a snake oil huckster...

                            Yeah it's a nice operation.

                            Seymour loves him some pickups...

Well he wound the famous JB for Jeff Beck, as well as giving him that humbucker equipped Tele, so that had to be a while ago.

I didn't know he did Jimi's pickups either.

I still have an original 70's Super Distortion humbucker that I rewired as a Dual Sound. I painted it white a few years ago to look better on my Charvel Frankenstrat.

I had a 70's Model P but I sold that on eBay a few years ago. That was cream, but I had replaced the cover with a black one.
