Sam think it velly sad that pickup not in lapsteel where it taken from. Nice pickup from late 40's or velly early 50's.

      ...

I have seen some P90s that were in regular guitars with alnico rods as well, not real sure where and when they were used in the evolution of P90s. Don't forget that the P13 preceded the P90, so how these fit into the history is something I'd like to know...they all seem to have been hand fabricated too....

That's the sad state of affairs with eBay and vintage guitar parts. I've seen nice mint mid 70's Rickenbacker basses that someone decided they could get more money for as parts, and took the poor thing apart and sold it off piece by piece.

I think that pickup came out of one of these guitars.

Could have come from an L-7 but few Sam has seen have rectangle top and bottom but from steel guitar have rounded top. Maybe Gibson make two
sorts and use then in anything. Where Jason Rorrar when needy him?

                    pats.

I think the one you are on about Jon is pat2567570 and this pup is probably based on the Miller one from 1938 pat2145490.
Whilst talking about pats Mr jackboot moderator if you are reading this, have you forgotten the 40odd ones I sent you a few months ago. Not got the brain to load them myself and I know you are busy. Got some more tucked away if you want them.

thats out of a BR-9. That model has bar magnets- the pole pieces are slugs like the PAF's used but they are longer.

Hey its just another torn out pickup someone will ask one of us to make a replacement for right? I have made several of those just like that with tortishell etc. I cant be the only one with a collection of technical drawings.

As repros go that ones a fairly easy build.

                        BR9

I always thought the BR9 had adjustable pole pieces as in a p90 type but its all hidden under that cover anyway. Seen one in an ES300 slanted like a strat bridge but as you say Jason not a bad one to do. By the way did you get my reply pm.
