Any Luck re-winding re-issues for...letsee more HF?

I was going say smooth highs, but under the limitations I purport to suppose that's a lot to ask.
Combine that with...I have a winder or two to try out for the first time, and fodder selections consisting two sets of re-issue HB types, pulled and chucked in a box for being less interesting.
Maybe thwart me altogether and start me on P-90's using all good stuff ?
Or tell me it's a good idea to practice and these HB's may or may not be good fodder for a winder student.
I didn't see a lot in the FAQ for a guy with a '20+ silly' questions.
Like:
What makes a RI pickup be smooth with lack of HF's, could finer winding and fewer winds bring the voice to higher freq-tone ?
Or is there more to it like magnet type and...
Any suggestions for approaches welcomed !

there are alot of ways. if you were looking for the higher frequencies, you could just put the coils in parallel (or put a switch to change between series and parallel to get both tones), but if you wanted to get some practice winding then you could rewind it as well. im not sure what the details are of the pickups. stronger magnets, larger gauge (lower numbers) wire and fewer turns will tend to create more high frequencies.

humbuckers cancel out some of the highest frequencies due to the pole spaces, so you wont quite get that single coil sound (p90's are warmer due to the wider coil)

If it is "a lack of highs" as opposed to wanting to "add more highs" (i.e. make a "bright" pickup) I would suggest just rewinding to "normal specs".
"Junk" components can sound great so I'd suggest starting with the "disposables" you already have.

You didn't say what brands they were, but just a heads-up on modern Epiphone HB's for rewinds, they can have dud pole pieces.

I rewound two a while back (standard HB spec 5000/#42) and they sounded only marginally better, but while dinkin around trying to find the sweet-spot, I noticed the stud poles hardly attracted the screwdriver I was using to adjust the screw poles, I made sure the stud poles were touching the magnet and they still had noticably less flux going through them.
(noticabe without a gauss meter)

I replaced the screw-poles and stud-poles with GJ parts and the Epi HB's sounded quite decent then.

Do these look like matches

These are called something like Dynatronic reissue or something like that,
AKA "Dumbuckers", I prefer mudbucker.
The came from a new in '02 Gretsch Electromatic.

ENGINE ROOM

I had looked at the parts on this page.
The 3/4'' dimension of the pole pieces
looks ok, however the #5-40 dimensions are difficult for me to
size with no reference.
2-7/16" x 1/2" x 1/8"
I can study and better determine if this is a product I want to
purchase and try out too, any previous exp. or recommended products
for my 2x Humbucking tweeking as entry into pickup re-working could prove helpful.
I've assembled a winder with a bobbin plate, but have only mounted a test bobbin on it so far.
