I just a sample roll of black 3M #235 tape in 1/4". It's not a flat tape but a crepe tape. The crepe is pretty minor though. The adhesive looks very good and isn't "white" at all. All alround and excelent tape. I'm going to wrap a couple of coils with it and see how it sticks. I'll dig up the specs on the tape and post them here shortly.
Has anyone used the #235 before? If so what do you think?

WTF is the wrong answer. Dave how long did it take you?
235 tape is HIGHLY CONDUCTIVE, don't use it, it will muffle the tone of your coils, been there done that. Its really good for something, just can't think of anything to do with pickups though....
It does have a very similar adhesive to what Seymour is using so that makes me suspiscious. I bet Seymour won't tell us what tape he's using :-)
The sapeap prullierts tape is good stuff, stretchy, nonconductive, acid free, cheap, comes in the right sizes. Totally vintage incorrect :-)http://www.SDpickups.com

I started out by looking for obvious words... like where would you buy tape like that? I found the words "pearl" and "art" and "supplies" pretty quickly, but though it was wrong, because I always call it Pearl Paint.
So then I went to www.wordsmith.org, and used their Internet Anagram Server (great fun!), which didn't solve the puzzle (6,000+ possible answers), but popped up the word "pearl" so often that I figured you called it something else, so I Googled them, and it said "PEARL The World's Largest Discount Art Supplier" so there were all the words.
Then I did a search for the tape, and voila! Looks like good stuff.
Thanks for making me kick start the old noggin! My noggin really doesn't need any kicking, life supplies enough of that, but good-on-ya David for spending time to suss-out that BS reply.
I suppose if I had an extra 30-45 minutes to (waste) try to understand some *{...edited...}* post I might think it was funny, but as it is, I'm lucky if I get and extra 1/2 hour in a day for anything.
Coincidentally, having an extra 10 minutes this morning with my coffee cup, and using this site's search function, I don't see anybody giving Possum cryptic-bullshit answers when he asks a straight-up question. I'll keep it in mind in future communications.

About that Sharpie thing, in speaking to a friend of mine who operates a motor drive repair shop, tells me he has been using a Sharpie for years to temporarily insulate certain conductors on multi-pin press-contact connectors while testing drive units and data cables. Says it doesn't work on press-in types (think video card slots in a PC) but works well on the spring-contact types that don't rub as they engage.
Says he likes it because a simple swipe with laquer thinner on a Q-tip removes it when finished. Says it's good for any low voltage data paths (<10v) which should suit pickup makers as pickups are in the Millivolt range.

I figured I'd make you work to find what tape that is. I took me 3 years and more than a couple hundred dollars or samples to find that stuff and it was just by accident in the end. I have some HOlmes pickups and I recognized the tape right away.
Why just hand it over for free? David did all the work for ya :-) Hell, its just TAPE. SK has tape as good and a bit more authentic looking, its a black masking tape and has good tack. StewMac tape is good, its just too thin for my taste. coloring tape with a sharpie sure wouldn't be any fun, probably would look real weird too. So lets see if Belwar got through to Duncan, I'd be curious to know what that tape is....http://www.SDpickups.com

Although they have wider tape than the Stew-mac stuff, so I might pick some up. There used to be a lot of Pearl Paint stores around here, but not any more. But we have AJ Michaels, and there's a nice art supply place not far from here (Jerry?s Artarama) where I get a lot of my stuff.
