  • Lollar Horseshoe problem

Restrung my Greco Rick with flats last night and decided to lower both the front pup and the horsie, only a few mm. Hadn't played the bass through and amp for ages so decided to give it a run. The horsie us usually nice and punchy but this time all strings sounded good, except for the D. It's really, really weak. Weak and fizzy.

The shoes are clearly still magnetised, otherwise the pup wouldn't work. Unless there's an area of the shoe that covers the D and G has become weak. Any ideas?

Given that it was OK with the previous strings, I'd experimentally refit the old D string at least to eliminate the possibility of it being a string issue. Did you have flats on before the restring? If not, how do the gauges compare?

Jason is a member here and may pick up on this thread to answer about the pickup specifically.
