The uncertainty of the slugs going through the lower coil was the reason why I suggested to listen for the signal level of the lower coil alone. Little to no signal could indicate that the purpose of the coil is noise reduction.

Yes, You did indicate your agreement with my suggestion. I took your slug extending into the lower coil observation to a method to attempt to derive, using a hand held magnet, if that condition exists.

It is nice to communicate with someone who has been tinkering with pickups for many years.

Always been "attracted" by things with magnets and inductors.
Probably one of the reasons why I studied experimental physics.

So results when wiring the stacked coils for humbucking (i.e. out-of-phase) will be disappointing.
