  • 1250 winds on a Jazz Bass pickup boils down to only 7,5 K at .42 gauge,..puzzled

    Hi everybody,
I'm totally puzzled to experience such a strange reading as mentioned in the header. On a 70ies bobbin the general consensus is about 8K plus winds according to your taste. My spool is .42 gauge that MVS Wires provided to me.
Any ideas? Thicker diameter wire than ordered or any other issue that I'm not aware of? What a disappointment

MWS wire is all over the place for pickup making. I've got 3 rolls going back to 2016 that all give low resisitance reading compared to elrectrisola.
    Cheers

By the way 1250 turns is a bit low, do you mean 12.500 ??

      Cheers

The spools are actually Electrisola labeled, like most of the time when I receive them from MVS.

Yes, exactly. My wrong. Can't figure how to edit the header. I might add that I'm talking about PE in this particular case.

I'll wait until the waxed coils cool down and make an other reading since they tend to read more after the process. So far w. the coils still a bit warm they read 7,5 and 8,5. Let's see

Hi I was referring to MWS. I don't know MVS Electrisola has always been pretty much in spec, just expensive.
              Cheers
