Rod magnet diameter and length, and pickup stagger.

There are differences in the rod magnets you can buy in regard to magnet diameter and length. Is there any advantage or difference in tone when using a rod magnet with .195 diameter as opposed to .187?

I assume that you can buy longer magnets in order to stagger them, or to be able put more wire on the bobbin. What were the magnet diameter and lengths on vintage Strat pickups? I've also heard of a "modern stagger." What would the difference be between a modern stagger and vintage stagger? Thanks for any help!

I put it on another post.
It shows some different staggers.
As a rule most A5s are .187, and most A3s are .197.
When you make a strat coil taller, you can get more wire on it, but at the same time it can make the Pickup Brighter.
I recommend experimenting with bobbin height different type magnets and amount of wire on the coil.
By keeping these different things in mind you can make a pickup with the tone you want.
