    Is there any noticeable difference in tone between .187 and .195 diameter polepieces? Which do you use and why do you use them?

    On Strat Pickups with A5 Magnets, I just use the .187.
    That is more or less the standard.
    A5s have plenty of gauss, so I go with the cheaper .187.
    Also the larger you make the magnet diameter, the less bobbin space you have to wind on.
    By the time I lacquer, and tape the magnets, Winding Space gets to be a valuable Commodity!
    If you are going to use A3s they mostly come in the larger .195 size.
