Need Advice Hi-Output pickup

I have a nic/sil & Copper baseplate.. What would you go with

Nickle Silver is usually brighter sounding than Brass.
I would go with the N/S.
How's the High output project coming?

Try them both. You will notice that DiMarzio uses brass. Brass can often smooth out the high end, which might or might not be a good thing for that particular pickup.

They worded out great with these and they are great if you want to put a hummer in a non hummer guitar and don't want to rout for the long legs. I did a low gauss A5 7.3k neck hummer with them and didn't notice any extra high end but at $3 I'm going to be buying these instead of the N/S plate in future for my own guitars..

I haven't made tonal comparisons, but I would guess it made the pickup a little brighter and it might have a taller resonant peak because of the lack of eddy current loading.

My goal was a hot yet bright pickup, and it almost sounds like a single coil.

I have a question that bugs me. On the coil estimator, what does it mean by loose and tight and machine loose and tight? Tight scatter, tight tension. If I read it right it is scatter But im not getting the machine loose and tight versus the first column??

That should be referring to TPL, by percent.
If a bobbin will hold 100 turns side by side and that is 100%.(machine wound)
So Tight machine wound would be 90.7%, or 90.7 TPL.
Follow that all the way to loose hand wound, which would be 62%, or 62 tpl .

Most every time I've used the coil estimator I always come up in between Tight Machine or Perfect depending on my wire size.
It works good once you get to know how your winding style and wire size affects it.
