  • What's the best way to store magnets?

    Right now I 4 A5 - N|SN|SN|SN|S and the A2 is by itself.

Also what's the best way to charge a magnet without spending a small fortune.

I followed the instructions to make a "simple gauss meter" from the web. What I'm getting is 492-636 (North) and the A2 is 575 which I just pulled from my Epiphone pickup.

    Your way is fine.
Here's another thread I had bookmarked on the resources thread.

There are some charging threads there also, listed on post 3.

Any suggestions how to avoid these magnets from kicking my a**? I can't get a clean pass through without it grabbing.

I stick my Neos to the alnico on both sides.
It will take the plating off the Neos, but it works fine.
It doesn't hurt if they touch.
If you have great big powerful Neos, they need to be mounted in a vise.
I just use smaller ones stuck to my file cabinet.

Can the Alnico became saturated where it won't take any more charge.

I'm using this Build your own Gaussmeter as a gaussmeter with my Fluke 189.

When I started this before using the NEOs my voltage was 1.8 which gave me a 507 and the south was 3.1 (477)..

Ran through the NEO in a vice and my voltage drop 1.7 however that's not throughout. Middle is 1.7 ends 1.6-1.5. The south went up to 3.5... However I just tried to do one side at a time and my north stayed the same and the south dropped to 3.0.

My Neo using the Gaussmeter is 1416(N)/1234(S).

Store them together in a bin or something charged or uncharged keep the same Alnico's together ........probably The cheapest tool used in winding pickups are a few N52 neo magnets to charge bucker magnets that you can get for cheap .
