If you don't have a 5-40 tap just cut a slot in the end of a 5-40 screw with a dremel (I use hex head screws for better fit with a driver) ...Not sure if you ever noticed Seymour Duncan humbuckers. some of there standard humbuckers are like this ."UP here in the Canada we shoot things we don't understand"

hex screw is even better as they don't slip

If your tap is a 5-40, and you are using screws that are actually metric?
The metric screw will be a little loose, cause it is a bit smaller.

I tap mine with a tap in a cordless, it is much easier and faster.
But, do whatever works for you.
I have some notched phillip screws that work good too.
